Organization
The CRG is a non-profit foundation funded by the Government of Catalonia, the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, the 'la Caixa' Foundation and external funding. The CRG is currently led by the Director, Dr. Luis Serrano, appointed by the CRG Board of Trustees.
The CRG is organised into three main areas:
1. Scientific Area
Research at the CRG is organised in 4 interconnected research programmes that report to the Director:
- Computational Biology and Health Genomics
- Genome Biology
- Quantitative Cell Biology
- Systems and Synthetic Biology
The Graduate Committee takes care of the PhD students, and the Postdoc Committee takes care of the postdoctoral researchers.
2. Core Technologies
The facilities below report to the Director of the Core Technologies Programme:
- Advanced Light Microscopy Unit
- Bioinformatics Unit
- Protein Technologies Unit
- Genomics Unit
- CRG/UPF Proteomics Unit
- CRG/UPF Flow Cytometry Unit
- Tissue Engineering Unit
3. Administration & Research Support Services
The departments below report to the Administrative Director:
- Legal
- Finance & Purchasing
- Human Resources
- Facility Management
- Information Technologies (IT)
- Health and Safety Office
Note that the Technology and Business Development Office (TBDO), the Strategy and Funding, the Training and Academic Office, and the Communications & Public Relations report to the Director (rather than to the Managing Director) but work in close collaboration with the above-mentioned departments.
