Roderic Guigó receives the “Ciutat de Barcelona” Award 2012

Roderic Guigó, program coordinator of the Bioinformatics and Genomics group at the, has just been awarded with the “Ciutat de Barcelona” 2012 Award in the category of Scientific Research.
The jury considered his work on the international ENCODE consortium where Roderic collaborated on the creation of new ways of interpreting the information contained in the genome. On September 2012, the ENCODE consortium published their results in several prestigious scientific journals. The jury awarded an honorable mention to Alvar Sanchez, leader of the Superconductivity Group at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, for his work on invisibility in magnetic fields.
The Award Ceremony will be held at the "Salo de Cent" of the City Council, the 18th of February.
