"The new Illumina HiSeq 2000 arrives to the CRG"

THE NEW ILLUMINA HISEQ 2000 ARRIVES TO THE CRG
The increasingly demand of CRG and PRBB researchers, as well as the new applications offered by the new sequencing machines are the main reasons that have led the CRG to obtain the new Illumina HiSeq 2000. Currently, this is the first sequencing machine with such technical specifications in Spain.
Among other improvements, the new Illumina HiSeq 2000 is able to sequence 2 flowcells at the same time. Thus, two genomes can in fact be sequenced. For example, the tumour genome of a patient and a control sample from the same person from healthy tissue. The run time is short, as it allows you to sequence a full genome in about 10 days instead of 30 up to now.
All this new equipment has been funded by national and European grants from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
