The CRG receives Severo Ochoa Accreditation
THE CRG RECEIVES SEVERO OCHOA ACCREDITATION
The Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation, Carmen Vela, has given the Severo Ochoa excellence accreditation - an award based on distinction - to five new institutes.
The award is valid for the next four years and will fund the centres with 1 million euros a year each. It will strengthen the research capacities of the centres, providing benefits such as access to other competitive grant calls, preferential access to large scientific facilities, flexibility in hiring new researchers and more visibility and capacity for attracting sponsors.
During the event, Carmen Vela highlighted the level of excellence and competitiveness of the centres that were selected and emphasized that Spanish science "despite current difficulties, must advance on the path of excellence represented by these centres."
