COURSES @ CRG: Applied Super-resolution Light Microscopy
Barcelona, Spain
Organizer: Timo Zimmermann
Course Overview:
In the last years several methods have been developed to overcome the intrinsic limit of resolution in optical microscopy. These approaches comprise the field of super-resolution light microscopy.
It is the aim of this workshop to provide an overview of the current state of super-resolution methods and to give access to such instruments in the form of Stimulated Emission Depletion (STED) and localization microscopes. A special focus will be put on the following applied aspects of these techniques:
- label properties and selection
- optimization of imaging conditions
- deconvolution of STED datasets
- analysis/rendering of localization based data.
Resources available for the workshop:
- Lecture rooms
- Course room for data analysis session
- Advanced Light Microscopy Unit (ALMU): currently 6 confocal microscopes (1x 2P, 1x 2P/FLIM/FCS, 1x CW-STED, 1 x spinning disk/bleaching/TIRF, 2x standard confocals), 1 GSD/Multiline TIRF microscope, 1 fully automated widefield microscope, supporting staff of four imaging specialists and one analysis specialist

Registration
We only accept online registration. Registration is now closed.
The number of participants is limited to 20. The positions are open to candidates from institutes worldwide.
Thanks to the support of the Spanish Governement, accepted participants to this course will be not required to pay any registration fee. Participation in workshop, the necessary tools to follow the course, didactic material, etc. is covered by the Subprograma Actuaciones Relativas a Infraestructuras Científicas Internacionales del Programa Nacional de Internacionalización de la I+D con referencia AIC-A-2011-0827 del Ministerio de Economia y Competividad (MINECO)
The Applied super-resolution Light Microscopy organizers are pleased to offer 3 Travel Grants to attend the Course.
The Course will offer a maximum contribution towards the travel costs to Barcelona based on economy class travel, first class train tickets and appropriate ground transportation. The available funding, if booked early, will be enough to cover the full travel expenses. Travel Grants recipients are encouraged to book early ONCE ACCEPTED and to not leave booking to the last minute.
Participants will be requested to organise and pay their own travel arrangements (flights, trains, buses, transportation to/from venue, etc.)
Registration for this course will close on Wednesday July 31st, 2013.
