At CRG, we believe that language is more than just words—it’s a bridge to integration, collaboration, and personal growth. That’s why we offer free Catalan, Spanish, and English courses to all employees, visitors, collaborators, and EMBL Barcelona staff.

Format: 

  • Format: Online sessions 

  • Schedule: Classes are held twice a week for one hour (Mon & Wed or Tue & Thu). 

  • Times: Classes may take place at the following times: 08:30–09:30 //13:00–14:00//18:00–19:00 

  • Platform: Each group uses the Berlitz platform for materials, resources, and teacher communication. 

  • Group Size: Up to 7 participants per group. 

  • Levels: Available from beginner to advanced. 

Enrollment Process: 

To get started with the language courses organized at the CRG, simply Fill out this form 
Interest form at any time. If you're a newcomer at the institute, you will first need to get the institutional email and NIE/DNI. After applying Berlitz will reach out to you on a monthly basis to complete the needs assessment and level test. Once your level has been determined, you will be placed in a group that matches your proficiency (if there’s slots available). At this stage you will be able to confirm or decline participation in the course.  

 

Conditions: 

  • The courses are fully funded by CRG and are therefore free for participants.  

  • A minimum attendance of 75% per month (based on connections to classes) is required.  

  • Participants failing to meet this requirement will become ineligible to enroll in the rest of the trimester or the following trimester and will be replaced by someone.  

  • Remember that the classes take place during working hours and therefore do not need to compensate for the time. 

This attendance policy ensures effective learning, which is our primary objective in providing these courses.
