The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) participated again in the Youth Mobile Festival Barcelona (YoMo Barcelona), the largest showcase of science and technology for primary and secondary students in Spain that is part of the Mobile World Congress.

Cristina Hidalgo, Marcos Francisco Pérez, and Sarah-Lena Offenburger, from the Genetic Systems laboratory presented their research and shared their latest results with primary and secondary school students. Visitors were able to turn their smartphones into microscopes to observe C. elegans worms, a model organism used in biomedicine research projects to study biological processes.

The CRG participated at YoMo Barcelona in collaboration with other research institutes in two dedicated booths within the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) and the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) activities. Students were able to reach CRG scientists on Wednesday 28th February at the BIST booth and Thursday 1st March at the PRBB “Biojunior” booth.

YoMo Barcelona took place at La Farga (Hospitalet, Barcelona) from February 27th to March 2nd. This event aimed to inspire future generations to pursue education and careers in science, technology, engineering, art/design, and math (STEAM) disciplines. It received more than 17,000 students and 3,000 educators from across Catalonia and Spain, who participated in this engaging and inspiring four-day showcase of science and technology. Designed for students from 8 to 18 years old, YoMo Barcelona has been featuring educational exhibits, live shows, interactive workshops, and a wide range of hands-on activities.
