PhD Community
PRBB residents can participate in a number of social activities on campus such as the beach volleyball tournament, drama group, choir, yoga and capoeira classes. Happy hours at the CRG bring the CRG community together and facilitate informal exchanges.
Additionally, PhD students at the CRG organise other social and sporting activities.
The community is represented by 4 students that are responsible for communicating the ideas/concerns of the students to the CRG Graduate Committee (made up of 1 group leader from each department, responsible of the CRG graduate programme).
The current PhD representatives are:
SYSTEMS & SYNTHETIC BIOLOGY - Paulina Spurk
GENOME BIOLOGY - Giulia Granata
COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY & HEALTH GENOMICS - Charles Pugh
QUANTITATIVE CELL BIOLOGY - Jeroen Jacques
We hope to see you soon here at the CRG!
PhD Students Symposium
The CRG PhD Symposium is an internal symposium aimed at providing a platform for the young scientists working at the centre. All 3rd year students give a short talk focusing on the main question they want to address in their PhD and how they are planning to do this. In addition, posters by 2nd year students will give an overview of the work that is being carried out.
PhD Students International Retreat
In addition to annual PhD symposia and retreats, since 2011 joint retreats have been organised with top European biomedical institutes to promote collaboration.
In 2013, the CRG and the Institute Marie Curie from Paris organized a joint retreat for their PhD students. This was the third consecutive year that such an event has been held. In the first year our students joined up with other from the FMI, in Basel, and in 2012 they got together with the universities of Bicocca and San Raffaele universities, in Italy. In 2014, the International Retreat was organised with the CeMM in Vienna.
The 2015 International Retreat has been organized with the University College London (UK)
