3 researchers from the CRG funded by the 2011 edition of La Marató de TV3
- This year the funding campaign topic was biomedical research on cell regeneration and transplantation of organs and tissues.
- Only 29 research projects over 200 were chosen.
Last Monday 5th of November, La Marató de TV3 Foundation announced the research projects to be fund by the 2011 Marató. Over 56 research teams will be running 29 research projects on regeneration and transplantation of organs and tissues.
La Marató aims to foster and promote excellent biomedical research and raise social awareness on the chosen diseases of each edition of the television programme. The 15hrs show is aired yearly in December by TV3.
This year, 3 research groups from the CRG will receive funds from the Marató:
- Susana de la Luna, leader of the Gene Function group at the CRG, in collaboration with Sara Martínez, from the CNIC with a project on immune innate stimulation as new cell therapy on transplantation. Budget: 400.000€
- Maria Pia Cosma, group leader of the Reprogramming and Regeneration lab, in collaboration with Miquel Vila Bover, from the Vall d' Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), with the project on dopaminergic neural regeneration in Parkinsons disease through cell reprograming by cell fusion. Budget: 300.000 €
- Thomas Graf, group leader of the Hematopoietic stem cell biology and differentiation lab at the CRG, for his project on reprogramming of embrionic endotelial cells to hematopoietic stem cells through transcription factors. Budget: 200.000€
