CRG at the 4th edition of Bioemprenedor XXI
On the fourth anniversary of the Bioemprenedor XXI program, which the creation of companies in Catalonia in the field of life sciences, the head of the CRG technology transfer office took part in the round table “The thriving innovative projects in biomedicine, biotechnology and medical technologies at public research institutes”.
The Bioemprenedor XXI program is a joint initiative of “la Caixa”, Barcelona Activa, Biocat, Genoma España and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce. The aim of the program is to assist entrepreneurs in the start-up phase of a new company or a business idea by providing integral training, guidance and support.
The presentation event was held on May 3 and included a round table focused on the blossoming of new innovative biomedical projects from public research institutes. Xavier Rúbies, head of the Tech Transfer office at the CRG, participated in this session together with Francisco Iglesias from the Institut de Recerca de Vall d’Hebron, Cristina Horcajada from the Institut de Recerca Biomèdica de Barcelona and Carme Verdaguer from the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation, who chaired the session. They presented the experience of each institute and gave a general overview of the innovative capacity and entrepreneurship in the public research institutes in Catalonia. They also stressed the importance of a close relationship between technology transfer offices and researchers as an essential condition to ensure the blossoming of inventions and the transfer of technologies and inventions into the market.
