L’exposició recull imatges del treball científic del Centre de Regulació Genòmica (CRG)
Per primera vegada a Barcelona, s’exposen imatges dels investigadors del CRG amb l’objectiu de compartir no només la recerca que es fa al centre sinó també la bellesa i la singularitat d’aquestes imatges, i els paral·lelismes i sinergies que s’estableixen entre l’art i la ciència.
El Palau Robert acollirà aquesta exposició que compta amb el suport i la producció de la Fundació Banc Sabadell.
Els científics del Centre de Regulació Genòmica (CRG) busquen contribuir a trobar solucions als problemes que ens sorgeixen als humans en la nostra relació amb el medi ambient o amb nosaltres mateixos, és a dir, trobar una cura per a les malalties o millorar la qualitat de vida dels éssers humans. Conèixer els mecanismes bàsics de la vida i dels processos vius, doncs, és el primer pas per poder aplicar, a posteriori, aquests coneixements i contribuir a la solució dels problemes esmentats.
Al CRG s’estudien els processos vius a tots els nivells, des dels elements més petits com les molècules, els orgànuls cel·lulars i les pròpies cèl·lules, passant per teixits i òrgans, fins a arribar als organismes vius. És precisament aquesta seqüència la que regeix aquesta exposició i permet establir el seu fil conductor. Per això les imatges s’organitzen en tres grans blocs: La cèl·lula | Teixits i Òrgans | Organismes.
El principal objectiu d’aquesta exposició és el de compartir amb la ciutadania no només el coneixement que es genera al centre sinó també la connexió existent entre la ciència i l’art, dues disciplines que comparteixen metodologia basada en l’experimentació i persegueixen la transmissió de coneixement. L’exposició proposa una reflexió activa al voltant d’aquest curiós binomi. La ciència i l’art són dos aspectes de la creativitat humana aparentment separats i sense connexió entre sí. Tot i això, uns i altres es miren i s’interroguen més sovint del què imaginem.
En el marc de l’exposició, els visitants també podran “jugar” amb les imatges de la mostra a través de la app CRG Memory Game, amb tauletes tàctils cedides per Hewlett-Packard. La app, desenvolupada pel CRG, gràcies al suport de la Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología (FECYT), està basada en el joc clàssic de fer parelles i empra les imatges de l’exposició. Després de jugar, els usuaris també poden accedir a la descripció de cadascuna de les fotografies amb què han estat jugant.
D’altra banda, en una sala annexa, s’hi instal·laran 4 microscopis cedits per Leica Microsystems, on està previst celebrar diferents tallers de microscòpia, adreçats a escoles i públic general, durant els quals s’explicaran els conceptes bàsics de la biologia i la recerca duta a terme al CRG. Els tallers permetran comprendre millor l’exposició i com s’obtenen les imatges que la composen.

Finalment, també s’organitzarà un cafè científic que versarà sobre temes relacionats amb l’exposició i la recerca que es desenvolupa al CRG.
Aquesta iniciativa ha estat possible gràcies a la recerca realitzada pels investigadors i investigadores del CRG, però també gràcies al suport de la Fundació Banc Sabadell, que ha produït l’exposició, al finançament del Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad, en el marc del programa ‘Centro de Excelencia Severo Ochoa 2013-2017’ (SEV-2012-0208), i a la cessió de materials y equips per part de Hewlett-Packard i Leica Microsystems.

The exhibition brings together images from the scientific work of the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG)
For the first time in Barcelona, photographs by researchers at the CRG are being presented. The aim is to share not only the work that is done at the centre, but also the beauty and uniqueness of the images and the parallels and synergies between art and science.
Palau Robert will host the exhibition, which is being supported and produced by the Banc Sabadell Foundation
The scientists at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) want to help find solutions to the problems that we humans face in our relationship with the environment and with ourselves: they want to discover cures for diseases and improve the quality of life of human beings. Understanding the basic mechanisms of life and living processes is the first step in being able to apply this knowledge, a posteriori, and contribute solutions to these issues.
At the CRG living processes are studied at all levels, from the smallest elements like molecules, organelles and cells, to tissues and organs, and right up to entire organisms. It is precisely this sequence, which governs the exhibition and allows you to be led through it. This is why the images are organised into three large blocks: The cell | Tissues and organs | Organisms.
The main objective of the exhibition is to share with the general public not only the knowledge that is generated at the centre, but also to highlight the connection between science and art, two disciplines that share methods based on experimentation and which pursue the transmission of knowledge. The exhibition offers us the opportunity to actively reflect on this curious binomial. Science and art are two aspects of human creativity seemingly separated and unconnected to each other. But they subtly interact more often than we imagine.
As part of the exhibition, visitors can also “play” with the images using the app CRG Memory Game, with touchscreen tablets provided by Hewlett-Packard. The app, developed by the CRG, thanks to the support of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), is based on the classic matching pairs game and uses images from the exhibition. After the game, the users can access a description of each of the photos they have been playing with.
In addition, in a side room there are 4 microscopes given by Leica Microsystems, where it is foreseen that several microscope workshops will be held, aimed at schools and the general public, to explain basic biological concepts and the research carried out at the CRG. The workshops will help people understand the exhibition better, as well as how the images in it were obtained.
