The new “BIO”, from the lab to the school
OBJECTIVES
- To offer teachers an overview of current biomedical science and give both theoretical and practical resources which can be used in the classroom.
- To encourage the curiosity and critical spirit of the participants towards scientific advances, the potential of biomedical research and its social impact
- To design and conduct research applying scientific methods to solve biological problems and to deepen knowledge of genetic and molecular biology concepts.
- To debate and establish links between the real needs of society and scientific knowledge, thanks to exchange and dialogue between the participants and the teaching staff of the course.
PARTICIPANTS
"Science in the modern world" (Ciències per al món contemporani - MonC) and biology (Bio) teachers of 4th of ESO, 1st and 2nd of Batxillerat (BXT), i.e. with students aged 15-17.
DATES
- Wednesday 15th January, 2014 from 4pm to 8pm
- Wednesday 22nd January, 2014 from 4pm to 8pm
- Wednesday 29th January, 2014 from 4pm to 8pm
- Wednesday 23rd April, 2014 from 4pm to 8pm
The course includes 4 hours of non-classroom study.
LOCATION
The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), PRBB building, Carrer Doctor Aiguader, 88, 08003, Barcelona.
