Launch of the web portal Horizon Health: communicating EU health research

Last Thursday, March 21, the web portal Horizon Health (www.horizonhealth.eu) was officially presented. It is an initiative of the European Commission as part of the CommHERE project (http://www.commhere.eu) and the aim is for it to become a valuable resource for journalists, educators and researchers and present EU-funded health research in an attractive manner.
In the presence of several representatives from leading EU research institutions, Professor Anne Glover, Scientific Adviser to the President of the European Commission, stated that "the cutting-edge research carried out by different European centres must be shared and communicated in a simple way to the general public. This portal is very important to aid dissemination of the latest scientific developments across Europe"."
All of the Spanish research institutes that work within the field of health under the sponsorship of the EC, can use this tool for the dissemination of their results. For more information, see the contact details at the end of this communication.
The Centre for Genomic regulation (CRG) is a partner in the CommHERE project. Through the network of CommHERE contacts, the CRG coordinates and performs outreach activities with researchers from the FP7 Health Research projects coordinated from the centre:

• 4DCellFate: Developing a global understanding of the PRC and NuRD complexes in stem cell differentiation, in health and disease. The research (involving 9 research centres, 3 more in biotechnology and one pharmaceutical company) is focused on understanding the process by which a stem cell develops into a specific cell type. (coordinated by Dr.  Luciano Di Croce).
• SysteMTb - Systems Biology of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. 13 institutions are working towards understanding the biology of the tuberculosis bacteria from different angles: classical biology, the latest generation mass-sequencing techniques, genomics and mathematical models (coordinated by Luis Serrano, director of the CRG)

About the CommHERE project

The general objective of CommHERE is to improve the communication of EU-funded research project results in health to the media, the general public and other groups, including the EC in Europe and beyond. The project is part of the EU's 7th framework programme.
